In 2020, PepsiCo acquired Pioneer Foods, a leading food, and beverage company in South Africa, adding its robust, well-known brands including Weet-Bix, Bokomo, and Ceres to PepsiCo’s portfolio. The Pioneer Foods acquisition is key to PepsiCo’s growth strategy across the entire African continent.
CHALLENGES
PepsiCo’s primary transport division requires a central platform to display its logistical planning for each respective transporter and the ability to share this real-time load allocation to the respective transporters and relevant clients or senders/receivers of the cargo.
SOLUTIONS
The FLOW platform creates the ability to latch and sync data straight from each respective transporters’ transport management software (TMS), excel sheet, or option for transporters to do a direct capture of the required information within the platform. The security and integrity of data is a crucial cornerstone of this project. FLOW platform extracts the required data from each transporter TMS of a sheet of information via a sync application into a central portal view (cloud platform).
OUTCOME
Consolidation of PepsiCo’s primary transporter division’s multiple SharePoint planning sheets across multiple sites into one central web-based portal login view for internal planning visibility.
The ability to sync relevant track & trace + operational load information from around 40 different transporters with multiple methods – hence not forcing transporters to adopt new workflow methods. Most transporters can merely keep updating their internal transport applications and in the process-relevant data, updates will be passed to PepsiCo.
